How payment works on Silky Road, the methods you can use, and how to keep your purchase safe.
Silky Road is a marketplace that connects buyers and sellers — much like eBay, you agree the deal directly with the other party. This guide explains how paying for a purchase works and how to keep it safe.
By default, the buyer pays the seller directly, and Silky Road does not hold or guarantee the funds. Because you choose who you trade with, doing your own due diligence on the seller and the asset is an important step before you pay. If you want your payment protected until the transfer is complete, you can choose Silky Road's optional escrow (see below).
You and the seller agree which method to use for the deal. Commonly used methods include:
Agree the price and terms with the seller in messaging or the Deal Completion Area.
Complete any verification the deal requires, and decide together whether to use escrow.
Agree the payment method and complete payment.
Once payment is confirmed, the seller transfers the asset and you confirm receipt.
Keep your communication and the deal on Silky Road — deals arranged off-platform fall outside anything we can help with.
Verify the seller's claims and check their verification badges and feedback.
For higher-value deals, consider using optional escrow so your funds are protected until the transfer is complete.
