On SilkyRoad.net, there are two primary ways to purchase a digital asset: through auctions or classified (fixed-price) listings. Each method works differently, and understanding how bids and offers function will help ensure a smooth buying and selling experience.
In a classified listing, buyers submit offers privately to the seller. These offers are not visible to other users, and only the seller can view the amounts.
Click the “Make Offer” button on the listing page.
Enter an amount that is at least 15% of the asking price or higher.
Click “Place Offer” to submit it.
Accept the Offer – The listing ends, and the seller agrees to sell the asset at that price. A Deal Completion Area will be created for payment and transfer.
Counter the Offer – The seller proposes a new amount.
Reject the Offer – The seller declines without further negotiation.
Sellers can review and manage incoming offers by navigating to My Account > My Listings > Pending Offers.
Only an accepted offer legally binds both buyer and seller to proceed with the sale.
If the seller does not respond to an offer within 72 hours, SilkyRoad.net will automatically reject the offer, and the listing will remain active.
In an auction, buyers place bids that are publicly visible (except for maximum bid amounts). The goal is to meet or exceed the seller’s reserve price to win the auction.
Current Bid Displayed: The highest bid is shown on the listing page.
To bid, you must first be approved by the seller.
Once approved, enter your maximum bid.
The system will bid on your behalf, increasing only when needed.
If your bid is below the reserve, you’ll be notified that you haven’t met the minimum price.
If your bid meets or exceeds the reserve, the system will raise your bid to the reserve amount, making you the leading bidder.
Maximum Bids – Who Can See Them?
Your maximum bid is private — only you can see it.
Sellers and other buyers cannot see your maximum bid, but you may increase it anytime during the auction.
Can Sellers Remove Bids?
Sellers cannot remove individual bids once placed.
However, a seller can revoke bidding permission for a specific user, which will prevent further bids from that user. Existing bids will remain valid.
If two bidders enter the same maximum bid, the first bid placed takes priority.
This is reflected in the bid history, with the leading bidder shown at the top of the list.
Classified Listings display an Asking Price, which serves as a starting point for negotiation.
If an auction ends without a sale, the listing shifts into a post-auction negotiation phase, similar to a classified listing.
In this phase, the listing shows an Indicative Price, which reflects the highest bid at auction’s end and serves as a reference for buyer offers.
Buyers can still engage by clicking “Make Offer”, proposing a price to the seller for consideration.
