Why a Listing Might Not Go Live or Be Taken Down on Silky Road
Silky Road’s Verification Process for Business Owners
During our vetting processes at Silky Road, we may remove your listing from the platform if it breaches our policies related to businesses that are not eligible to list on our marketplace.
Our vetting process can occur
Before listing,
During the go-live stage,
Or as our systems and team monitor the live marketplace.
If a listing is already live, it may be temporarily suspended to address concerns with the business owner. If our concerns are serious in nature, the listing may be canceled without warning, and access to your account could be removed.
Businesses Not Accepted on Silky Road
- Unverified Business Claims: Businesses unable to verify claims related to finances, traffic, users, and other business metrics when asked by the Silky Road team.
- Non-Revenue Generating Assets: Online assets without a revenue stream being sold for $8,000 or more. These typically include starter sites that are a few months old or pre-revenue projects.
- New High-Value E-commerce Businesses: E-commerce businesses priced over $25,000 that have been operating for less than six months.
- Partial Business Sales: Selling a business partially, where the owner operates the site, and the buyer manages/runs a subdomain, subfolder, or an account on the business’s platform (e.g., example.com/site or site.example.com).
- Prohibited Products: Promoting the sale of weapons, imitation weapons, and weapon accessories.
- Silky Road as a Major Income Source: Businesses where Silky Road is the source of at least 30% of income.
Cloned or Duplicative Mobile Applications:
Cloned, duplicative, or ‘reskinned’ mobile applications.
- Terms of Service Violations: Businesses operating in breach of the terms of service for third-party companies (e.g., selling bot traffic, fake followers, likes, or streams).
Counterfeit Products:
E-commerce businesses selling counterfeit products.
Spamming Services:
Businesses operating spamming services or link farms.
- Fraudulent Backlink Profiles: Businesses with overly suspicious or fraudulent backlink profiles.
- Unlicensed Software: Businesses including software they aren’t licensed to sell. Sellers must verify they have the correct license, which can be transferred to a buyer without copyright infringements.
- Adult or Overly Sexual Content: Adult products, toys, and underwear are allowed, but listings for such assets cannot show prohibited content.
Circumventing Silky Road’s Terms of Service:
Any business attempting to bypass the Silky Road Terms of Service.
- Shopify Domain Requirements: Any business running on Shopify must have its corresponding domain. A business can’t solely be run from the *.myshopify.com domain.
- Competing Marketplaces: Businesses operating a similar marketplace as Silky Road, where business owners and buyers come together to sell online businesses.
- Unverified Ownership: Businesses where ownership is unable to be fully verified. Domains for businesses may require proof of domain registration ownership and ID verification; web apps or mobile apps may require ID verification where assets are hosted on third-party platforms.
- Split E-commerce Businesses: Any e-commerce business with one or more suppliers feeding into multiple storefronts across marketplaces, FBA, Shopify, or various e-commerce portals that are not sold as a single business.
This list does not define all businesses not accepted on Silky Road. On a case-by-case basis, some business models may be deemed unacceptable. If this occurs, we will review the business and communicate with the business owner.
