What blocking on Silky Road actually does, what it does not do, and why blocking cuts communication in both directions.
Blocking someone stops the two of you messaging each other, in conversations you already have as well as new ones.
They are not told. From their side, messaging you simply stops working.
Block them from their profile or from the conversation. The block takes effect immediately.
You can see everyone you have blocked in your block list, under your messaging and privacy settings, and remove a block from there.
This is where expectations and reality most often part company. Blocking is messaging only. It does not:
If someone is a genuine problem rather than just unwanted contact, blocking is the wrong tool on its own — report them as well. See Reporting a message or user.
Once a block exists, neither of you can message the other, regardless of who blocked whom. If you block someone in frustration, you also cut off your own ability to reach them.
Neither side is ever told which of you did the blocking. Both people see the same message. That is deliberate — revealing the direction is exactly what would make blocking risky for the person who did it.
If a deal is live and money is involved, blocking the other party means neither of you can discuss it. That is rarely what you want while a transaction is in flight.
If someone is behaving badly during a live deal, report them, and if money is at stake open a dispute — see Opening a dispute and what happens next. Those are the routes with teeth. Blocking just removes your own line of communication.
Open your block list and remove the block. Messaging resumes immediately in both directions, and your old conversation is exactly where you left it, because nothing was deleted.
They are not told you unblocked them, just as they were not told you blocked them. There is no cooling-off period and no limit on how often you can change your mind.
